Is Your Water Heater Leaking?

If you walk into your basement or check your utility closet, only to see a puddle of water around the base of your water heater, it could be a sign of a much bigger problem. It could also just be condensation, but if it’s the first time you’ve seen such a puddle, it’s best to call a plumbing professional. The team at Gladiator Plumbing & Repipe has worked on countless water heaters in the San Jose area, and we can determine if the puddle is due to a minor leak or a more serious issue, such as a corroded tank or compromised pipe.

It’s rather common for water to drip from the temperature pressure relief valve, but if you’ve noticed that it’s more than a drip, please call us right away. You should never attempt to inspect or disassemble your water heater on your own, since even the slightest contact with the heated water can cause serious burns and bodily injury. Water temperatures above 120 degrees Fahrenheit can cause first-degree burns in a matter of seconds, and if your water heater is set higher than that, even the slightest splash could cause significant bodily harm.

If you think your water heater is leaking, or you are certain that there is a serious problem, call Gladiator Plumbing & Repipe in San Jose right away. We want you and your family to be safe from a faulty hot water heater, and we want to repair or replace the appliance as soon as we can.
